The Homeschooling 101 Enrichment Day happened on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Alton, Missouri, at the Alton Assembly of God Church. Speakers from around the state came and talked.
Speakers
The speakers were Shane and Christy Richardson, Luke Bieber, and Kim Quon. Shane Richardson gave a talk on how to persevere through homeschooling your children with tips and tricks on how to do it. Christy Richardson talked to the moms about how to balance their life and homeschooling their children. Bieber, who is a college student, gave some of his thoughts on being homeschooled all his life and how it helped him. Quon talked about the different Missouri homeschool laws and how to make sure you’re homeschooling your children legally.
VBS
While the parents were upstairs listening to the speakers, the kids were downstairs going through a one-day VBS. The kids learned about the 7 C’s of Creation: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation. Various crafts the kids made included a creation booklet, a tie snake, a Tower of Babel out of marshmallows, a cross, and a crown.
Displays
Between speakers, the attendees mingled together in the foyer, which was lined with display boards of the different homeschool curricula. Some displays included Abeka, ACE, Christian Light Education, HSLDA, Home Science Tools, and additional resources like TeenPact.
Drawing
Attendees were able to enter a Home Science Tools drawing for a $100 gift card. The winner is Carrie Johnson.
Lunch
After the speakers were done talking, the attendees and speakers went downstairs and had a free lunch which included a sandwich, chips, and cookies or brownies. While eating, the participants were able to spend time with the speakers and ask them questions.
