Trump Stops Taxpayer Dollars Going To Planned Parenthood

On March 25, 2025, the Trump administration announced plans to freeze tens of millions of dollars in family-planning grants to the nation’s biggest abortion company. This move would stop about $20 million in federal funding to Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Pro-life advocates hailed the decision as a significant step toward redirecting taxpayer dollars away from abortion centers and toward life-affirming alternatives.

The funding pause targets grants under review for their DEI efforts. While the authorities examine these programs, the freeze cuts off financial support to Planned Parenthood, an organization long criticized by pro-life groups for its role as the nation’s largest abortion business, killing 350,000 babies a year.

Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone also praised the move by announcing,

The irony is that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry are the opposite of DEI because they cannot accept the DEI of the unborn ^[1].

Planned Parenthood Healthcare?

Pro-life leaders have long argued that Planned Parenthood’s abortions overshadow any legitimate health care it may offer, making it an inappropriate recipient of public funds. The freeze comes as the administration pushes to reshape federal health priorities.

Pro-life supporters confirmed that alternative providers, such as community health centers and pregnancy centers, stand ready to fill the gap without offering abortions.

Mexico City Policy

During his first week in office last term, Trump signed the Mexico City policy in one of his first acts as president. This pro-life policy prohibits American tax dollars to groups that promote or provide abortions overseas. The International Planned Parenthood Federation alone estimated a $100 million loss from its budget.

The Mexico City policy has been supported by pro-life presidents and rescinded by pro-abortion presidents. Trump went further, though. He reinstated the policy and expanded it by increasing the number of global health assistance funds and government programs covered under it. Trump has also ordered the defunding of the UNFPA, a United Nations population control agency that promotes abortions worldwide.
