Kennedy was sworn in as Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department, which handles Americans’ health. While managing food and medicines is part of his task, he felt it necessary to return to basics and define facts. What is a woman? As Kennedy was confirmed on February 13, these new definitions were posted on February 19.

Definitions

The HHS website now defines a female as ‘a person of the sex characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of producing eggs (ova).’ A male is defined as ‘a person of the sex characterized by a reproductive system with the biological function of producing sperm.’ It continues on to define mother, father, boy, girl, man, woman, and sex.

Reasoning

Dorothy Fink, MD, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Women’s Health, stated,

In health care, sex distinctions can influence disease presentation, diagnosis, and treatment differently in females and males. HHS recognizes that biological differences between females and males require sex-specific practices in medicine and research to ensure optimal health outcomes [1].

Life Begins?

On the same day, the HHS said on FB that life begins at conception. Although Congress has tried to pass bills declaring life’s beginnings, the previous administration was outwardly against anything remotely close to saying such a thing. With the Trump administration and RF Kennedy leading the way, life is known to begin at conception.
