In a recent post, we announced that Walgreens, a nationwide pharmacy, would not sell the abortion pill in Kansas. Although the Biden administration does want abortions commonplace, many states have outlawed or heavily restricted abortions since the reversal of Roe V. Wade. Walgreens has come under fire for their agreement to become FDA-certified to distribute the pill. Nonetheless, Walgreens declared that,
it is not distributing abortion pills anywhere, including in states where they remain legal [1].
Walgreens does still intend to seek certification from the Food and Drug Administration to distribute abortion pills in certain states.
However, this move follows two dozen Republican attorneys general (among them Missouri’s) writing to Walgreens in February, warning it not to distribute the infamous abortion pill. The executive vice president of Walgreens, Danielle Gray, wrote to all of these attorney generals and stated,
Walgreens does not intend to dispense Mifepristone within your state and does not intend to ship Mifepristone into your state from any of our pharmacies. If this approach changes, we will be sure to notify you [2].
The Biden administration has made easy access to abortion one of his goals.
