Missouri has a law criminalizing abortion. Although it did not take effect until the overturn of Roe V. Wade in 2022, it was already in the books of Missouri law. And most people are happy with that. However, a group has somehow gotten enough signatures to bypass our elected officials and get a measure on our next ballot, legalizing abortion.
Proposition
In 2019, Missouri passed a law criminalizing abortion, killing a baby in his mother’s womb. It had no effect until the overturn of Roe V. Wade in 2022. Now, abortion rights groups are coming out across the country into conservative, life-loving states like Missouri, trying to change our very own constitution.
Legislators
Our elected officials work diligently from January until May, reviewing bills and laws, correcting wording, and ensuring that everything that needs to be covered is done. Then, Congress dismisses until January unless the governor calls an emergency session.
Why Now?
Then why is the Missourians for Constitutional Freedom pushing to legalize abortion After Congress let out?
They believe each person has more say in a matter than our elected officials. They realize that our elected officials will not pass this into law. That is on the front page of their website. They want to bypass elected officials. However, this allows democracy to rule and the strong majority to take over. Why do we pay people to represent us in Congress if we bypass them? How can a citizen stay abreast of all the bills, propositions, and amendments while managing a job, family, and life?
Abortion
One can no longer argue that a baby in the womb is just a piece of flesh. Modern technology can easily detect an individual heartbeat at 22 days. Some women do not even realize they are carrying a baby that early. Yet, this group wants to kill an unborn child.
Election
Every registered voter must go to the polls in November to override this proposition. Is Missouri for life? Or death?
