Alton, Mo. – The coronavirus pandemic has been going on for a couple of months, and country governments and state governments have been issuing quarantine orders. If you live in big cities, especially, you will be quarantined. Also, schools are out so kids are getting bored. Here are some activities that both children and adults can do if they are bored. Here are some ideas to keep busy, keep from getting bored, and be productive.
Read Something
Take up a book and get involved in the story. Imagine you were the main character and get carried away. There are so many good books out there waiting to get picked up and read by you. They can be short, long, picture-books, or novels, just pick them up and read them. And to go even further you can do a book report on it as well.
Clean/Organize
Is your room, house, or apartment messy? If so, take the time and clean it up. Clean up your closet, your shelves, the kitchen, and the living room. Make your bed. Vacuum the rooms. Organize the pantry. The appearance of clean rooms will just make you feel so much better.
Write
Take up journal writing or write a book. It doesn’t have to be the best story ever or the best journaling ever; that can be your place to write about things. Write about things that are happening around the house or come up with the best story and put it into words. You can make funny or serious poems and songs too. You never know, you may become a journalist or author.
Exercise/Yoga
Some people may connect exercising with outside. That is not always the case. While there are many exercises you can do outside, there are also many you can do inside. Whether or not you have weights, resistance bands, or other workout equipment, you can do a workout without anything except a floor. Be creative or look up some exercises online. Do some push-ups, sit-ups, squats, lunges, running in place, and so much more. You can also substitute cans of food for weights and do some curls and other weighted activities. Also, you can do some yoga. Look up some poses and just relax and do the poses.
Chores
While you may think that there are no chores to be done, there are. Chores may not sound like fun, but it’ll give you something to do and your parents will be happy. Make a list of them, even if they’re small, and do them one by one until they are done.
School
For the kids out there who are on a “break” from school, you can still do some schoolwork. Think up math problems, read science books, history books, and the Bible. You can also make a sentence and diagram it. Add some food to the math problems. Look over your science and history books and review them. Make up questions and have a trivia game. Read that interesting book and write an essay on it.
Cook
This is the time to learn or to grow in your cooking skills. Grab a fun-looking recipe and make it for your family (with the supervision of your parents). Make sure you have all the ingredients you need then start cooking! It can be a dessert, side, main dish, or the entire meal. Just because you’re quarantined doesn’t mean you can’t have a nice meal.
When the coronavirus is gone, you will not be unprepared to go back to school or back to work. You will have done these fun things and will have been productive while doing them.
