Alton, Mo. – Oregon County, Missouri, now has an emergency warming station. This is open to all who need it. To prevent people from freezing when temperatures drop, the First Baptist Church in Alton, Missouri, has declared itself an emergency warming station. Although this is in Alton, anyone from the county is encouraged to come out of the cold and spend the night here.
Where Is This?
Currently, the emergency warming station is located at the First Baptist Church in Alton, Missouri. This is the only overnight warming station in Oregon County. Its address is 14791 Missouri 19 in Alton, Missouri. This is on the south side of town, in front of Tucker Creek Park.
When Will This Open?
This warming station is set to open in mid-January. It will open when temperatures are forecast to be twenty degrees or less.
What Happens?
If you are in need, simply show up at the church. They will house people overnight in the warmth of the church. Additionally, they will offer hot soup and maybe bread. There is no credit check. They are here to help.
Can I Help?
The church is seeking support from the community in this venture. They are now accepting blankets, sleeping bags, bed rolls, pillows, food, and financial donations.
