Alton, Mo. –Summer is officially starting June 20, 2020. You may be having trouble thinking of stuff to do. Here is a list of activities that you can do in the summer.
#1 Swimming/Exercise
The first thing you can do is go swimming. Whether in the creek, river, or the pool, have fun swimming. You can also start a summer exercise challenge and do something different for every day of the week: such as hiking, biking, running, weightlifting, football, and soccer.
#2 Picnic
Pack a picnic in a basket and head out to the park with your family. You can even do it in your backyard.
#3 Cookout
When summer comes, you just want a nice juicy hamburger. So have a cookout. You can invite friends over and cook up some hot dogs too. If you have trouble thinking of what to have on the hamburgers, go here.
#4 Have a Campfire/Bonfire
Get some sticks or cardboard and have a bonfire. Or you can have a campfire. Either way, get some medium marshmallows and roast them over the fire.
#5 Water Fight
A fun activity to do in the hot summer is to have a water fight. Get some water guns or water balloons and have a water fight. [1]
#6 Fly a Kite/ Blow Bubbles
Two fun things to do in the summer is to fly a kite and blow bubbles. So on a windy day, grab your kite and sail it. After you fly your kite,, you can grab your bubbles and blow them.
#7 Slip ‘n Slide
A nice way to cool down on a hot summer day is to make and play on a slip ‘n slide. Grab that tarp that’s been lying around, some dish soap or baby oil, and the hose. Spread the tarp out on the ground. If you want a downhill slip ‘n slide, put the tarp on a hill. Spray water over the tarp so it’s covered with water. Next, put the soap on all over the tarp. Once you’re done with that, spray more water over it, and you have you slip ‘n slide! You can also put the sprinkler near it to add to the fun and water.
#8 Catch Lighting Bugs
At dusk, go outside and catch lighting bugs. To add to that, grab a glass jar and a lid. Poke holes into the lid so the bugs can have air then, as you catch the lighting bugs, put them into the container. Soon you’ll have the entire container full of lighting bugs.
#9 Stargaze/Watch the Sunset
A way to relax in the summer is to watch the sunset and stargaze. Go out to your backyard or hop on your car hood and watch the sunset go down. Then lie down in the grass or a chair, and as it gets darker, watch the stars come out. See if you recognize a few constellations.
#10 Garden
Get some pots and plants and plant some flowers and vegetables in the pots.
#10 Create a Journal
The last thing to do is to create and keep a journal. Take pictures of what you do in the summer, or you can just write about them and put them in your journal. You can have a journal for every summer.
