MDC West Plains To Host Workshop On ‘Field To Freezer’

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free “Field to Freezer” workshop at West Plains MDC’s office. This class will teach the basics of deer processing.

What Is The Class About?

Experts will teach the steps necessary to process wild game yourself. They will discuss the field dressing process and demonstrate how to skin and butcher a game animal in simple, easy steps with minimum equipment. You’ll learn tips on ensuring your wild game is the best quality possible. You will Find out how to skin and process your deer. The experts will demonstrate techniques, provide examples of equipment and tools, and answer any questions.

Attendees will learn the steps necessary to process wild game, including skinning, quartering, and identifying cuts of meat, as well as tips on getting the best quality meat from your deer.

When Is This?

The workshop is on Saturday, February 8, 2025, between 10:00 am and noon.

Where Is This?

This class happens locally- in West Plains. The MDC Ozark Regional Office will host the event. Its address is 551 Joe Jones Blvd.

Who Can Attend?

This workshop is designed for six and older participants and will occur in an unheated shop building. Please dress for the weather, as the class will be in the parking lot. If it rains or is extremely cold, the event will move to the Fisheries Bay area.
