Alton, Mo. – On Saturday, May 23, 2020 the Mo/Ark Livestock Auction parking lot was packed to overfill. Trailers, trucks, and various vehicles filled the lot. But happily, no stray animals ran loose.
Owners
Duane Dawson and Mr. Sisco have put in many long hours making this venture a success. The goal of this auction house is to benefit small farmers, those who don’t attend auctions regularly with numerous animals to sell. It has easy access for the local farmers to pull right in, without banging vehicles or trailers, or losing the animal.
Saturday’s Auction
Well, the crowds speak for themselves. A beautiful, sunny day brought most farmers out of the house, aiming to get or make a deal. With meat markets up in the air due to the virus, people are looking to sell at a profit or to buy for future eating. People want stability and the auction house, in its own way, is offering stability. It’s saying that time goes on; people still eat and animals grow.
Location
The Mo/Ark Livestock Auction is located down Highway AA. From Alton, one goes north on highway 19 to AA and turns right. From there just a few miles down one can see a large open lot on the right hand side. A phone number for questions is 417-270-1816.
