Summer is only a week away, officially. This is the time to go outside with your children. It is OK for them to get messy, dirty. That is where so much learning takes place. Here a a few ideas to get you- and them- started.
Messy
Kids can get messy, and they will wash clean! There’s something about running through dirt, piling up old leaves, collecting rocks and bugs that just draw children like magnets. No need to thwart their adventuresome spirit. How about mud pies, puddle jumping, or boat races in a gutter? A warm bath in the evening cleans away the grubbiness and relaxes your child for bedtime.
With beautiful weather, bring out the craft supplies. This is the time for glue and glitter. It is allowable to make a mess outside. They will love you for it.
Outside Fun
Have your child collect something: rocks, certain leaves or flowers, grasses, etc. Obtain Large boxes. This is a terrific imagination game for the outdoors. Refrigerator or wash machine boxes become transformed in the hands of a child. Encourage gardening. From planting to harvesting, this is quite the learning experience. Alongside this is chores. If the parent makes them drudgery, the child will fell that way, too. But with warm temperatures, outside chores are fun! Trimming, pruning, anything outside becomes a game.
Outings
Visit local parks or nature centers. These are different places to play Frisbee or bubbles. Take a bike ride around town. Take a picnic lunch somewhere.
The main idea of all of this is to get outside- you and your children. Take advantage of sunny weather. Find out what interests and excites each of your children. And be safe together.
