It’s summer out and it gets hot and humid in Missouri. Missourians and citizens all across the nation try to find ways to stay cool during the summer. A favorite choice for everyone is ice cream! Now, in case someone asks you why you’re always having ice cream, tell them that June is National Dairy Month! While June is wrapping up, you still have a couple of days to celebrate different dairy products.
Nutritional Benefits
Dairy products have a bountiful amount of nutritional benefits. Some include calcium, vitamin D, phosphorus, vitamin A, riboflavin, and vitamin B12 to just name a few.
Want Some More?
There is a variety of dairy products that you can eat, or drink, to celebrate National Dairy Month. If you’re more on the food side, you have sour cream, cottage cheese, butter, cheese, yogurt, and of course, ice cream. If you prefer drinking stuff, some dairy products include white milk, chocolate milk (personally my favorite), strawberry milk, soy milk, buttermilk, oat milk, and almond milk. You can also hit a food and a drink in one shot with an ice cream shake or malt!
Gov. Parson Statement
Governor Mike Parson made June, National Dairy Month, “to recognize all of the hard working producers across our state…”
Come And Celebrate!
While knowing about the nutritional values and different types of dairy products is good, you need to act on you’re knowledge of National Dairy Month.
Milk Party!
A fun event you can plan is a milk party. Gather you family and friends and get all the different types of milk you can get. Then, everyone can taste test the different milks and see which one they like best.
Dairy Trivia
We all know history facts and trivia and we also know trivia about sports teams. But do we know dairy trivia? This can be in conjunction with the milk party, throw out some dairy trivia and see who can get the most right. To get you started, what’s Louisiana’s state beverage? It’s milk!
Mooo!
Diary comes from cows as we all know. Go to a place you know where cows are and have a photo shoot with the cows (with the owner’s permission). You can be creative and get moo costumes as well. The photos you take will be very memorable in future years as you look back on it.
