Thinking Spring Thoughts About Gardening? Try A Free Class

Although we are just at the beginning of winter, some people may already be thinking spring thoughts. Thoughts about fresh dirt, tender garden shoots, and greenery in general. Well, the University of Missouri Extension Office is hosting a gardening training session. Everyone interested is invited! Whether you are a private individual who simply wishes to advance his knowledge of horticulture or one who wishes to become a MU Master Gardener, this set of classes is for you.

What Is This?

The MU Extension is offering online Missouri Master Gardener core training. It is a series of fourteen classes.  Students work at their own pace on their own time schedule. Students do need a composite score of 70% on chapter quizzes to pass the course. After completing the course, the trainees must also complete at least 30 hours of volunteer service. This core training is the first step toward certification as an MU Extension Master Gardener.

What Subjects Are Covered?

Topics for this course include basic botany, soils and plant nutrition, vegetable gardening, fruit production, landscaping design, ornamental plants, turf management, and insects and diseases.

What Is The Class For?

The Extension Master Gardener program was initiated to share plant knowledge with others. The class objective is to emphasize service to others.

When Is This?

The next training session is set for Sunday, January 14, 2024. However, you must secure your place by Friday, January 12, 2024.

Cost?

There is a cost of $200 for the sessions.

Who Can Attend?

Although there are no age parameters, this is a collegiate course, complete with quizzes and assignments.
