38th Annual Black Gold Walnut Festival Is A Success As Usual

Alton, Mo. –The 38th Annual Black Gold Walnut Festival happened on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Like previous Walnut Festivals, this one was also a big success!

Opening Ceremony

The VFW presented the colors at 9:00 am to officially start the Walnut Festival. Macie Anderson sang the National Anthem.

Quilt Winner

Around noon, the winner of the Sew Blessed Piecemakers Sunflower quilt was announced. Juanita Jett was the winner of the quilt.

From the raffle tickets sold preceding the Walnut Festival, $900 was presented to the Alton Food Pantry.

Vendors

Vendors lined both the inside and outside circle of the square. Shirts, candles, perfume, cloth, carved wooden toys, lotion, soap, and jewelry were sold.

Music

Throughout the day, music was played by multiple people and groups. The Alton Junior High and High School Choirs, Preston Ary, Vikki McGee Band, and Creek Stink Band performed at the festival.

Raffles/Games

Multiple vendors also had raffles going on throughout the day. Many of the raffles were for guns.

Games for kids were also happening, including train rides and ping pong ball, where you could win a goldfish.

A Fun Day

Whether old or young, the Walnut Festival was a good time to hang out with friends and family, support local businesses, and listen to good music.
