Thayer, Mo. – Oregon County 4-H has planned a horse project fun day. Members of the 4-H are encouraged to participate, and others interested in 4-H can come and watch the demonstrations.

What Is This?

This is a day of fun, games, demonstrations, and races. The students will demonstrate bridle and saddle skills. Elizabeth Picking, MU Extension Livestock Specialist, will be present to demonstrate showmanship. There will be flag and obstacle races. Additionally, Gainesville veterinarian Dr. Hornig will demonstrate teeth floating and discuss parasites.

When Is This?

This happens on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Be at the arena between 9-3.

Where Is This?

These horse demonstrations occur at the Thayer Saddle Club Arena, behind O’Reilley’s Auto Store and next to First Assembly of God in Thayer.

Cost?

All 4-H members are free to attend demonstrations. The public is invited to watch for a nominal fee of $2.00.

What Else?

Please leave your dogs at home for this event. For only $10, you can rent a Tack Swap table to sell your horse-related items. Members can bring their horse, mule, donkey, or pony.

We encourage the residents to come out and support these youths as they learn life skills through animal husbandry.
