The Great American Eclipse is just four days away on April 8, 2024. If you’re a visitor coming to be in the path of totality or are a local wanting to attend some eclipse events, here are the events happening during the eclipse weekend in Alton, Thayer, Koshkonong, and West Plains, Missouri, and Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
Alton
Alton, Missouri, has multiple events going on during the eclipse weekend.
BB Road
The BB Road Fire Department is having a fish fry on April 6th between 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The cost is $10 for adults, and $6 for kids 12 and under.
Farmer’s Market
The Oregon County Farmer’s Market is having their grand opening on April 6th between 9:00 am and noon on the walking trail at Tucker Creek Park.
Alton Assembly Game Day
On Sunday, April 7th between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm, the Alton Assembly of God Church is having a game day. Everyone is invited to play some board games and have fun!
Alton FBC Dinner
The Alton First Baptist Church is hosting a pulled pork dinner on April 6th starting at 5:30 pm. The cost is by donation. Testimonials will be given during the dinner.
Swap Meet
A swap meet will also be on Saturday from 9:00 am until noon at the old MO/ARK Livestock Auction located at 1059 AA Highway in Alton. Vendors will be set up with various items from baked goods to animals to soap.
Thayer
The city of Thayer is also having several events going on from April 6th-8th.
Farmer’s Market
Thayer’s Farmer’s Market will be open on April 6th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and April 7th from noon to 4:00 pm. It will be by the Pizza Inn in Thayer.
Cruise-In
On Saturday, April 6th, the Thayer and Mammoth Spring chamber of commerce’s are putting on a Total Solar Eclipse Cruise-In at the Thayer High School. It will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Eclipse Festival
Another event the Thayer and Mammoth Spring chamber of commerce’s are co-hosting is an Eclipse Festival also at the Thayer High School. It will be on April 6th starting at 4:00 pm. There will be kids’ games, vendors, fireworks, music, and much more.
Assembly of God Lunch
The First Assembly of God Thayer Church is having two lunches during the eclipse weekend. The lunches will be from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on both April 6th and April 8th at the church. The cost is $5.00 per person for a hot dog, chips, drink, and cookie.
Koshkonong
The city of Koshkonong is having a Cosmic Clear-out Citywide Yard Sale on from April 6th through 8th. It will be at the park as well as other city locations. Different vendors selling baked goods, yard sale items, soap, and other things will be set up.
Mammoth Spring
Although Mammoth Spring is working with Thayer, an event only in Mammoth Spring is the Maker’s Market & Eclipse Extravaganza. The event will be on April 6th from 7:00 am until days end. It will be at 746 Highway 63 S.
West Plains
West Plains is having a four-day festival during the eclipse weekend. They will have many events going on, including concerts, runs, festivals, carnivals, parades, sports tournaments and more!
