Alton, Mo. – The Black Gold Walnut Festival is coming up in just over a month on Saturday, October 5, 2024. A new contest that will be going on at the Walnut Festival is AltonMo.com’s photo contest. Here is everything you need to know, from the size of pictures to voting, rules, and categories.

Voting

For the photo contest, there will not be a panel of judges choosing the winners: people attending the Walnut Festival are the judges. Tickets will cost $1 per vote or 6 votes for $5. Once purchased, the individual can vote for as many pictures as he wishes. Photo contest entrants can also vote for any picture, including their own. Voting will start at 10:00 a.m. and will end at 2:00 p.m.

Proceeds

All the profits made by the photo contest will be given to the Alton Food Pantry.

Categories

The photo contest will have three categories: People, Nature/Places, and Animals.

Prizes

First, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded in each category. The voters will not be left out, either! After the photo contest winners are chosen, the tickets of all the individuals who voted will be put together, and a super winner will be chosen. There will be a total of 10 prizes given out.

Rules

Multiple rules are included to make the photo contest run smoothly. (The following rules reiterate what has been said previously.)

  • You can enter any size print photo between a 4×6 and an 8×10.
  • Photos must be printed out; digital images will not be accepted.
  • On the back of the printed photo, list your name, cell phone number (so the winner can be notified via text), and the title of your picture.
  • That individual will be disqualified if the AltonMo.com team cannot read the writing.
  • Any age can enter.
  • There is no cost to enter.
  • Photo contest entrants must have taken the picture they are submitting.
  • Each category will have a first-, second-, and third-place winner, as well as a super winner among the voters.
  • Entrants can vote for their own photo.
  • Individuals can vote as many times as they want to for however many pictures they want.
  • There is no entry deadline, but the voting will stop at 2:00 pm.
  • To vote, tickets are $1 for 1 vote or $5 for 6 votes.
  • Proceeds from the tickets will go to the Alton Food Pantry.
  • A new winner will be chosen if the winners do not claim their prizes within an hour of being contacted.
