Christmas is a time of fun and joy for all. Holiday shopping, cold weather, decorating the house with lights and taking your child to sit on Santa’s lap. This year Alton, Missouri is taking the holiday spirit a little bit farther than your average Christmas parade by putting on another “Christmas in Our Town.” This event will be held by local businesses in Alton on November 30th from 5 PM through 7 PM.
Christmas in Our Town
Christmas in Our Town is a fun way to start the month of December. On Friday, the 3oth of November, you can go to Alton, Missouri to visit with Santa, or drink some hot cocoa, or just do a little shopping and talking with friends. Last year the turnout was large with over a hundred kids showing up. This year many businesses aren’t expecting any less.

This year Christmas in Our Town is helped out by local Alton businesses. These businesses include:

Join in the Festivities
Some of the stores that will be staying open late will be serving up snacks and prizes. You can catch some door prizes at Corn Fed Rascal’s from 4 PM through 7 PM. Christos house, the Alton Florist, and the Backwoods Diner and Arcade will be serving treats like hot cocoa, coffee, or cookies. The Backwoods Diner and Arcade will be having a pool and other assorted games, and the Alton Florist will also be having activities for kids throughout the evening
Some businesses will have sales on November 30th. Alton Auto Parts & Alton Gun & Pawn will be having sales on firearms and pawn items. Style & Grace Boutique will also be having select discount on their goods November 30th.
Christos House
Christos House will also be supporting Christmas in our Town. They will be staying open until seven in the evening, as well as offering treats like coffee, hot cocoa, and other treats. The profits of their store help provide for people who suffer from domestic violence and abuse. This makes your shopping go for a good cause.
Style & Grace Boutique
One of the businesses to be supporting the annual Christmas in our Town event is the Style & Grace Boutique located just off the square. Although Style & Grace Boutique said that they won’t be having Santa, they are having sales throughout their store on the 30th.
Backwoods Diner and Arcade
The Backwoods Diner and Arcade will be serving treats as well as holding pool competitions throughout the evening. This Diner doesn’t just have snacks and pool though; it also has a couple of arcade games to keep you occupied. The Backwoods Diner is committed to keeping kids (and people in general) off the streets and staying out of trouble after school. Feel free to stop by for some games, treats, or to chat.
Alton Florist
The Alton Florist is also celebrating Christmas in our Town. When asked about the expected turnout, they responded that they are expecting a crowd. They’re prepared though, with treats and hot cocoa for kids during the event.
Brad’s Barber Shop
Brad’s Barber Shop will open until 7 PM as well on November 30th. Brad wasn’t 100% sure if people would really stop by for a quick trim at 7 PM, but he’s willing to get into the Christmas festivities.
Corn Fed Rascal
Although Corn Fed Rascal’s in Alton Missouri normally stays open later than seven in the evening, they will be participating in the Christmas in our Town “late night festivities” as well. Friday is fish fry night at the Corn Fed Rascal so they’ll be having that as usual. They’ll also be having treats for kids that dine in with their families on November 30th.
Alton Auto Parts & Alton Gun & Pawn
The Alton Auto Parts & Alton Gun & Pawn is the new place you’ll want to shop for Christmas presents for Dad. With discounts on select firearms throughout the month of December and up to 20% off pawned items, you really can’t get a better deal. Unfortunately, they will not be serving hot cocoa on November 30th, but they will be open until 7 PM.
Other Stores
Other stores around the Alton square will also be open until seven in the evening. With the extra time before closing, you can consider doing some quick Christmas shopping for your friends and family. You’ll also be helping local businesses and starting December off on the right foot.
