Heinz is currently holding a Heinz Art of the Burger Contest. It ends today, July 12, 2022, at 11:59 pm. While it is of short notice, if you love sauces, food, and art, this should be easy.
Themes
There are five themes you can go by: Classical, Maximal, Minimal, Sculptural, and Experimental. While all the examples are going to deal with burgers, you can use anything. The classical theme is what you imagine a burger to be; the perfect burger you could say. The Maximal theme is putting everything imaginable on the burger and going all out. The minimal theme is sweet and simple. You have just what you need to have a good burger. For the sculptural theme, design the best burger that you can. Build it up, sideways, or any way you can think of. For the last theme, the experimental theme, add any unique stuff you can. You may be surprised at how good it tastes.
Prizes
There are going to be prizes. The grand prize is $25,000 and a feature on participating BurgerFi menus. [1] Fifty runner-ups will get bespoke Heinz Art of the Burger merch.
Judging
Just so you have an idea of what the judges are looking for, there are four things to pay attention to: imagination, presentation, use of sauce, and build.
Imagination
The first thing going to be judge on is the imagination of the burger. They’ll be looking for the food item to fall into one of the before-said categories, or, if you want to, your own category.
Presentation
Another thing being judged on is the presentation. The photo needs to capture the burger. Make it look as if you could already taste the burger.
Use of Sauce
The sauce should be the main point of the burger, pretty much. The sauce should be used in a unique and different way to capture everyone’s attention.
Build
The last thing being judged on is the build, or the ingredients and composition. The build should convey a meaning to onlookers and build the burger’s identity.
If you want to show off your workmanship of food and photography, this contest is for you. If you want inspiration, you can check out some of the photos here.
