It is not too late! With the hottest weather behind us, now is the time to get your children out in the sunshine and fresh air they long for. How about some time relaxing while fishing? Not too far away but rustic enough, West Plains Conservation Area is here to supply your needs! They are offering free fishing in their stocked pond. It is catch-and-release only. And being in West Plains, you can do shopping after letting the kids fish!
What Is This?
West Plains Conservation Office has a catch-and-release fish program for children ages 15 and younger. Behind the office and store, there are beautiful walking trains and a stocked pond. This is the place to go for children interested in fishing. As it is well-kept in the city, the MDC tries to keep bad bugs (like ticks) and bad wildlife (like poison ivy) at a minimum. This is close to the major grocery stores and other businesses you may need to work with on the West Plains trip.
It is a 1-acre pond.
When Can They Fish?
This has been taking place all summer. It began on May 1 and will end on September 30. It is only open on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Where Is This?
This takes place at the Ozark Regional Conservation Office, 551 Joe Jones Ave in West Plains.
Who Can Fish?
This is for all children ages 15 and under.
