Do you like to run? Or how about getting out and walking? This Saturday, Missouri State University in West Plains is hosting a 5K run. Attendees are encouraged to run or walk. The registration fee is low, and all proceeds go to the Grizzly Athletics Scholarships.
What Is Going On?
Missouri State University-West Plains will be celebrating 30 years of Grizzly Athletics as part of its annual homecoming celebrations on Saturday, January 27. Officials invite everyone to participate in the festivities by joining in the first-ever Grizzly Homecoming 5K.
Where Is This Happening?
 The 3.1-mile race begins at 9 a.m. in front of the Grizzly Lofts, 665 Missouri Ave. The route winds through campus before ending back at the Lofts.
When Is This?
The race is Saturday, January 27, 2024. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Lofts. Â
Cost?
Registration fees are $15 for children ages 12 and under, $15 for students, and $30 for adults. Participants can register in advance at Maroonation.MissouriState.edu/Homecoming5K or on the day of the event at the Lofts. All proceeds go to benefit Grizzly Athletics scholarships, they added.
What Else?
All age groups are encouraged to participate by running or walking the course. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers. The first 30 participants who register for the event will receive a commemorative 30th anniversary Grizzly Athletics T-shirt, organizers said. The weather should be warmer than January has been. So take advantage of the idea, and get some fresh air while benefitting college students.
