Alton, Mo. – Although most of our minds are looking towards Independence Day celebrations, The Annual Black and Gold Walnut Festival is just around the corner, and vendors are marking their calendars. We know that the festival draws large crowds to Alton. Visitors come for the food, music, crafts, and competitions. Did I say competitions? Yes! Each year, the chamber sponsors several contests: baking, woodworking, and pumpkin carving for children. This year, AltonMo.com is hosting a photo contest!

What Are The Categories?

There will be 3 categories of photos: people, places/ nature, and animals. People can be of any person. Places or nature- we have beautiful riverways, fall colors, icicles, and spring buds. A passing thunderstorm will fall into this category. Then, for animals, it can be a pet or a wild animal like a fawn. For last-minute photos, the drug store in Alton has a photo print booth. You can submit up to three images per category.

Photograph that darling new granddaughter, a lunar moth, the sunrise, people laughing.
