Alton, Mo. – This has been a busy weekend throughout Oregon County, and Friday night added to the mix. Beginning around 5:00 p.m., beautiful classic cars adorned the square in Alton. Following the viewing, the Walnut Run started on the square, too.
Cruise-In
The shine and care the owners put into their vehicles were unmistakable.
Vehicles from different eras circled the square. More than vehicles, admirers cruised from one vehicle to another, taking photos or admiring the vehicles.
Run
As the cruise-in wrapped up, runners began registering for the Walnut Run, which began at 6:00 p.m. Runners of all ages lined up at the starting line to compete in the 1-mile or 5-k run. Each winner received a gift certificate for Court Square Cafe.
It was a tough run with the Alton hills. In the end, Amanda Thomas won the one-mile race, and Ryday Deckard won the five-kilometer race. Congratulations to each winner, and great job to all those who participated.
Now is the time to start practicing for next year!
