Alton, Mo. – Alton, Missouri once again held its weekly farmer’s market. In Alton, the farmer’s market is more than just produce- the market offers baskets, honey, homemade pies, and even beef.

What Is For Sale?

This week, Wes Conrad once again brought in his produce. By mid-morning, all that was still available were cucumbers. An Amish family sold baskets. Several booths sold local honey of varying sizes.

And Beef?

Coming into the local farmer’s market was Sgt. Dan’s Redneck Cattle Co., LLC had a booth set up to sell beef. This is a small (to date) beef market owned and operated by a veteran. He has thought this out as he brought flash-frozen beef to sell, along with a price list and business cards for future communication. All of his beef is grown and raised right here in Oregon County, or just the other side of the border in Randolph County, Arkansas. The meat is USDA inspected. This is a learning experience for him and his family as he tried to help local residents. Further questions can be directed to Daniel Crowder at 417-766-4099 or 417-938-4831. What About The Heat?

On Saturday, June 13 various tent displays scattered the field at Tucker Creek Park. The sellers learned that sitting for hours with the sun streaming down on them is not conducive to business. Nonetheless, several booths had their backs to the sun, even something draped up to shade the merchandise. Sunshine and light breezes kept customers shopping, hoping to restock their pantries for another week.
