Missouri’s annual “Show Me Green” sales tax holiday will still begin Sunday, April 19, 2020. This comes at the perfect time in which families are staying home more.
What Is This Tax Holiday?
The Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday provides Missouri shoppers the opportunity to save on energy-efficient appliances. Examples of the tax-exempt items are wash machines, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, stoves, water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps. These are new Energy Star qualified appliances. Energy Star appliances help consumers save money on operating costs by reducing energy use without sacrificing performance. [1]
What Is The Normal Tax?
The normal Missouri state sales tax for these items is 4.225%.
Extra Cash?
This discount on tax comes right when many Missourians should be receiving their stimulus checks from Congress. So while more people are staying home, trying to cook and clean, what a great time to upgrade those old, worn-out appliances with more cost-saving devices. This sale is only one week; it ends Saturday, April 25, 2020.
