Watch: A Look Into All The Events The AltonMo.com Team Covered In 2023

In 2023, the AltonMo.com field team had a chance to cover dozens of events, from festivals to sports games to holiday festivities. Here’s a brief overview of what happened.

First 3 Months

Nothing really happened in January of 2023. February brought an Alton Comets basketball game and the Alton Art Club’s movie night. In March, the AltonMo.com field team went to West Plains for Pi Day. Court Square Cafe also had its grand opening in March. While there, the field team had a chance to interview the owner, Thomas Sallings.

April-June

The only event in April was the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus coming to town. In May, the field team had a chance to go to the Alton Senior Center’s 50th year anniversary. Several events happened in June, including the Thomasville 5K run/walk, the Shafer family auction, and the Heart of the Ozarks Fair. At the fair, the AltonMo.com field team interviewed several of the youth who entered animals.

July-September

The only two events in July that AltonMo.com had a chance to attend were Thomasville’s Independence Day celebration and Alton’s Independence Day celebration. At both events, the field team interviewed people and gave out gift bags. In August, the field team covered the season opener football game for the Thayer Bobcats and interviewed some of the players.

In September, the field team went to a Mammoth Spring car show; went to two Thayer football games, including the homecoming game; interviewed the new superintendent of Alton, Holly Reese; went to Thomasville’s Autumn Days; and went to Myrtle’s Yester-Daze.

Final 3 Months

In October, the field team went to the Black Gold Walnut Festival and interviewed attendees. The team also attended one football game, Thayer’s Fall Festival, and Koshkonong’s Heritage Days. The AltonMo.com field team attended several events in November, including a football game, the Thomasville Christmas Bazaar, and an Alton Comet basketball game. AltonMo.com also interviewed the new band teacher, Kaleb Gray, at the Alton High School.

To close out the year in December, two Thayer Bobcat basketball games, the Alton Christmas Parade, and the Thayer FCCLA “Running into the New Year” 5K were covered. At the first Bobcat basketball game, the field team had a chance to interview Matt Pitts, head coach of the basketball team. The field team also interviewed the new Alton First Baptist Church pastor and his wife, Kevin and Paula Crum.

AltonMo.com was blessed in several ways in 2023, and we can’t wait to see what 2024 holds for us!
