The Salvation Army is wanting helpers to ring their Salvation Army bell. The bell ringing goes on from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve. The majority of proceeds comes right back to our community.
Who Can Do It?
People of all ages are encouraged to help out, but those under thirteen, about, are requested to have an adult with them. Public schoolers, homeschoolers, adults, and anyone with a willing heart can help out.
Times
The bell ringing starts at 9:00 am and goes until 7:00 pm from Monday until Saturday. [1] The Salvation Army bell ringing goes from November 25, 2022, until December 24, 2022.
Locations
In Alton, the bell is rung at the Harps Grocery store. In Thayer, it’s rung at both Harps and Walmart.
If you want to volunteer, there are a couple of options. Usually, local churches have sign-up forms. If your church doesn’t have one, you can call 417-256-6147 for more information, Charlie Trantham at 417-270-0097, or Larry Sisson at 817-706-1896. [2]
What To Do?
Once you’ve signed up, go to the location where you’re ringing the bell. Usually, you can tell someone in charge that you’re there to ring the Salvation Army bell. They’ll give you the kettle, apron, and bells. You can sing Christmas songs, see friends, and just have fun while you’re helping your community out!
Profits
Salvation Army takes 15% of the profits in the kettle; the rest goes to help our community. [3]
Now’s a great time to help your community and volunteer for ringing the Salvation Army bell!
