A supporter of President Trump’s wall started a GoFundMe to help pay for the project on December 16, 2018. Four days after the fundraising page was launched it had raised over $4 million. The fund is now over $25 million.
One of President Trumps most memorable promise during his campaign was that he planned to build a wall bordering Mexico. Now, almost two years into his presidency, his administration has not secured funds from congress to for the whole wall project or built the complete wall. [1]
President Trump has, however, used other funds from the budget to build out sections of the border wall that was stopped for a while by a federal judge. That stay was pushed aside by the Supreme Court and progress was being made until another recent case has stalled progress again.
$1 Billion
That’s why veteran Brian Kolfage, who has no connection with the Trump administration, decided to take matters into his own hands and set up a fundraiser for the wall. The goal is one billion dollars. So far over 297,000 donations have been made to the project, and more than $25 million has been raised in the past two years.
Brian Kolfage stated that we voted President Trump into office in 2016 thinking that we were going to get a wall in the next four years. He said that if we can raise funds for a portion of the wall we can at least jumpstart the project.
“If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall.” That equates to roughly 5 Billion Dollars, even if we get half, that’s half the wall. We can do this. [2]
Build the Wall
The estimated total price of the wall usually falls between $12 and $20 billion. But a Democratic report calculated that the wall could cost upwards of $70 billion. [3]
Trump supporter Brian Kolfage is working towards raising the amount needed to build the border wall. Or at least getting started on the funds needed to kick-start the building of the wall process.
we voted for him to Make America Great Again. President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still.
