Important Voting Dates To Keep In Mind

Alton, Mo. – This is expected to be an important election year. Never before have there been such diverse opinions as the two parties running to control the offices. There is no middle ground this year. With that in mind, one does need to keep dates in front, too. When is election day? What if I cannot be there? What is the deadline for absentee voting? Read on to find out!

November 5

We know election day is in November, but the actual date to head to the voting booth is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Polls are open between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

October 22

This is the date that no-excuse, in-person absentee voting begins. You can absentee vote inside the courthouse at the Oregon County Clerk’s office, 1 Court Square. The office is open for voting through Friday, November 1.

October 9

This is the last day to register for this year’s elections. A booth was set up at the Walnut Festival to register voters. However, one can still register to vote in future elections, just not for November’s election.

September 24

This is the date absentee voting began. Remember, all ballots Must be returned by Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 7:00 pm to be counted.

Note

The courthouse, thus absentee voting, will be closed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14. Additionally, Saturday, Nov 2, between 8-12 and Monday, Nov 4, between 8-5 (open thru lunch) are special extra hours for absentee voting.

The normal office hours are 8-4 M-F (closed 12-1 for lunch).
