The Fargo Board of Education held a meeting to discuss the importance of pledging allegiance. The claim was that the pledge separated each people groups. The attempt to remove the pledge by the board was a vain attempt to create unity.

Back on August 9, 2022, the school board’s vice president, Seth Holden, led the votes against reciting the pledge. He said,
The statement that we are ‘one nation under God’ in simply an untrue statement [1].
He remarked that the pledge was contrary to the district’s diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. The pledge leaves out other gods. He claims that we are
one nation under many or no gods [2].
Additionally, the board president, Tracie Newman, recommended that a member recite a
shared statement of purpose that would bring us all together [3].
This would happen at the beginning of each board meeting. She asserted that this would bring unity.
Opposition
The North Dakota Republican Party called the school board’s vote laughable. One state senator, Senator Scott Meyer, began working on a school voucher bill to allow public funds to pay for private schooling. One parent was anxious that the Pledge of Allegiance would be removed from schools because it is ‘non-inclusionary.’
Ending
The Fargo School Board quickly began receiving angry emails and phone messages from across the country based on this decision. The August 18 special board meeting had discussions on emails and the anger brought to them. At that time, the board members reinstated the pledge.
