In a vain attempt to create peace between school boards and parents, the Biden administration, via the education secretary Muguel Cardona, launched the National Parents and Families Engagement Council (NPFEC). As with many other items he proposes, do Americans take this for face value or is there something wrong yet?
The Purpose
The council is set up to serve as a link between families and caregivers, education advocates, and their local school communities. The council wants to ensure students have the mental and academic health they each need recovering from the pandemic.
Who Is On This Council?
While in name, what parent would go against this council? However, looking deeper into the members on this council will show what the true agenda is [1]. Some examples of the member are National Action Network which promotes the hiring or participation of gay/transgender people. Another is Girls, Inc. which supports abortion, comprehensive sex-ed, gender transitions, and critical theory. The United Parent Leadership Action Network (UPLAN) encourages sexual health classes, encourages equity based on race, gender, sexual orientation. These are a few of the members. A more itemized list of the council members to ‘work’ with parents can be found here.
Based on the appointed members of this council by the Biden administration, one can wonder how conflicts can help but occur. Will this council stand behind parental authority, or undermine it? Will reinforce the true family? Or redefine it? The education department seems to have different goals than parents do for their own children. Will parents thwart this so-called unbiased mediator council? Or will parents give up their rights to raise their children as they see best? Time will tell.
