On Friday, March 17, 2023, U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.) announced that the United States House of Representatives recently passed legislation he coauthored to overturn President Joe Biden’s overreaching Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) Rule.

WOTUS

Biden’s WOTUS rule would lead to sweeping changes to the federal government’s authority to regulate navigable water, significantly impacting farmers, ranchers, small businesses, and private property owners.

Smith’s Statement

Representative Smith said that the WOTUS rule is very overreaching and that he will do anything he can to stop the government from gaining more power.

President Biden’s Waters of the U.S. rule is government overreach at its worst… I’ll continue pushing back against any and all attempts by this administration and Washington Democrats to grow the power of the federal government.

The Bill

Smith’s bill would help keep Missouri farmers, ranchers, and landowners in charge of the property they own.
