How often do you put something in the mail? Not the electronic mail, but the mailbox? If you recently bought stamps, you may notice that your wallet is lighter. The U.S. Postal Service raised their rates on Saturday, January 21, 2024. Instead of paying sixty-six cents for a stamp, you now pay sixty-eight cents.
What Went Up?
The price of a first-class stamp went from $.66 to $.68. Metered letters that are an ounce went up one cent. If you take a vacation and send a postcard home, that price increases from fifty-one cents to fifty-three cents. International postcards and letters went up from $1.50 to $1.55.
Anything Else?
Those were the only increases at this time. However, the Postal Service is also seeking price adjustments for Special Services products, including Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental fees, money order fees, and the cost to purchase insurance when mailing an item.
That said, the USPS announced that they are still the most affordable in the world.
