Rep Smith Leads Conservative Votes As He Supports Trump

Congress was in session last week, and they cast critical votes to guide our country. As head of the Ways and Means Committee, Smith makes big decisions about what goes on the floor to be voted on. Here are some measures he cast his ballot on.

S. 5 Laken Riley Act-

This act helps combat the dangerous border crisis by giving law enforcement the ability to detain illegal immigrants suspected of theft. The legislation is named after Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was brutally murdered last year by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who had previously been arrested for theft but was released. Rep Smith voted in favor. This passed.

H.R. 21 Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act-

This act secures medical protections for babies that survive an attempted abortion, requiring health care providers to administer the same medical care they would to a fetus born prematurely at the same age, transport the child to the hospital, and report violations to law enforcement. Smith coauthored the legislation. It passed, and Representative Smith voted yes.

H.R. 471 Fix Our Forests Act-

This implements reforms to facilitate active forest management and enhance interagency wildfire response capabilities. It passed, and Smith voted in favor.

H.R. 186, Hershel Woody Williams National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act-

This authorizes the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation to establish a commemorative work on the National Mall to honor the extraordinary acts of valor, selfless service, and sacrifice displayed by Medal of Honor recipients. Representative Smith voted in favor. It passed.

H.R. 187, MAPWaters Act-

This requires federal land and water management agencies to jointly develop and adopt interagency standards on recreation data on federal waters and make publicly available geographic mapping data and information regarding recreation and fishing restrictions on federal waters. Smith voted yes. It did pass.
