For the last two weeks, Representative Jason Smith has been busy serving Missourians as he tries to sway the direction America is heading. Upmost in people’s minds, the House did pass a budget bill. However, because the Senate changed it, the House must approve the new changes. Nonetheless, these are the bills and resolutions that the House did vote on with how Smith voted [1].
H.R. 2494, Police Act of 2023
This bill makes any illegal immigrant who assaults a law enforcement officer automatically subject to deportation from the United States. Resolution passed. Smith voted Yes.
H.R. 3091 Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act
This allows current federal law enforcement officers to buy their retired service weapons at market value to help stop the loss of millions of federal dollars in destroyed guns. Measure passed. Smith voted Yes.
H. Res 363
This resolution recognizes National Police Week and expresses condolences and appreciation to the loved ones of each law enforcement officer who has made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This passed, and Smith voted yes.
H.J. Res 27
This measure blocks President Biden’s Waters of the United States Rule (WOTUS), which would give unelected bureaucrats more command and control over the property and lives of rural Missourians. This resolution passed, and Smith voted yes.
H.R. 140
This resolution prohibits federal employees from pressuring social media companies to silence, censor, or remove Americans expressing views online. This passed, and Smith did vote yes.
H.R. 1226
This requires the Secretary of the VA to create an online tool for VA benefits claimants or their representatives to access information on the status of their claims. This passed with Smith’s yes.
