On October 3, 2023, before House Speaker Kevin McCarthy lost his seat, United States Representative Bob Good gave several reasons on why McCarthy should lose his seat.
Cutting Spending
Representative Good and some of his colleagues begged McCarthy to utilize the debt-ceiling. Instead, McCarthy “negotiated an unlimited increase to the debt-ceiling through January of ’25.”
A Vote
According to Good,McCarthy had agreed to bring the balance budget vote to Congress.
Meanwhile, the Speaker had committed to bring a balanced budget vote to this floor. Something that still has not happened despite the work that’s been done in our budget committee to mark it up and have it ready to come to the floor.
Appropriations
McCarthy also said that he would bring the appropriation bills to the floor before the September deadline; that did not happen.
