H. RES. 554: This resolution affirms the nature and importance of the support of the United States for the religious and ethnic minority survivors of genocide in Iraq. This was agreed upon, and Representative Smith voted yes.
H.R. 9495, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act: Smith led this legislation which prevents the IRS from charging late fees and penalties on American citizens wrongfully detained abroad. In addition, this Smith-led legislation revokes the tax-exempt status of U.S. non-profit organizations that have been found to provide financial or material support to designated terrorist groups like Hamas. It passed, and Representative Smith voted yes.
H. RES. 1449: This resolution condemns the global rise of antisemitism and calls upon countries and international bodies to counter it. It was agreed upon, and Representative Smith voted yes.
H.R. 1449, the Committing Leases for Energy Access Now Act: This supports American-made energy by requiring the Interior Department to increase the frequency of geothermal lease sales from every two years to every year and hold a replacement sale if one is canceled or missed. It passed, and Representative Smith voted yes.
