National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September ninth through the fifteenth. Through the week United States civilians can take the time to think about all the truck drivers and the work and commitment they have to complete their jobs.
There are approximately 3.5 million professional male and female truck drivers. As of 2015, there are 7.4 million people employed throughout the economy in jobs that relate to trucking, excluding the self-employed truckers. Trucks move approximately 71% [1] of America’s freight, measured by weight, without truck drivers there would be a whole lot missing throughout the country.
President Trump gives a brief speech about truck drivers
The American trucking industry and its drivers advance our economy and provide many Americans a path to a good living in service of others. These men and women work day and night, through the harshest conditions, and endure long periods away from their loved ones to fulfill their task safely and effectively. In the aftermath of disasters, American truckers deliver life-saving supplies. [2]
Our Nation applauds the dedication of America’s truck drivers, and we thank them for the hard work they do every day. My Administration remains committed to supporting these men and women by working with Congress to increase investment in America’s infrastructure and by reducing burdensome and unnecessary regulations on the trucking industry. We must ensure that our country’s truckers can keep fueling our thriving economy. [3]
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is when America takes some time to honor all professional truck drivers. Thanking them for their hard work and in tackling one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs. Certainly, these 3.5 million truck drivers not only deliver their freight safely, securely, and on time, they also help keep our highways safe with their good driving.
