Two weeks ago Representative Smith led a conference with health care providers and medical personnel to hear how he could help. He drew up a proposal and presented it to President Trump. Altonmo.com reported on this proposal here. The President is listening and trying to assist.
What Changed?
The Trump administration updated Medicare’s guidance. This permits health care providers to evaluate seniors over the telephone instead of in person or over a video conference. Representative Smith has urged this change after hearing from rural health care providers. On Monday, March 30, 2020, President Trump directed the Center for Medicare& Medicaid Services (CMS) to deliver maximum flexibility to health care providers who respond to this coronavirus pandemic.
Anything Else?
CMS will also support more than 80 additional services when furnished with telehealth. Some of these services include home visits, emergency department visits, and nursing facility visits.
Representative Smith is working hard to meet the needs of rural communities during this time of crisis. He is working hard to ensure the seniors in our area receive the care they need and deserve. [1]
