Meet Governor Parson In West Plains On Thursday

Have you wanted to meet Governor Parson but did not want to travel to Jefferson City? Well, he is coming to our area! Howell County, and especially West Plains, has been working with the state to acquire funding to build an overpass crossing US 160 on the north side of town. The deal is going through, and Governor Parson is coming down- in person- for a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday.

Where Is This Happening?

Governor Parson will meet at the U.S. Highway 160 overpass in West Plains, along Independence Avenue, behind the sheriff’s office. The official address is 1610 Old Airport Road in West Plains.

When Will The Construction Begin?

Construction will officially begin next week in October and is expected to be completed by December 1st of next year. The groundbreaking ceremony will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

The city has a map of detours available once construction begins.

Governor Parson and other dignitaries will be present.

The Project

This overpass will alleviate long-standing traffic issues at the rail crossing on Independence while ensuring that West Plains maintains continuous east-west access during elevated floodwaters from Howell Creek.”

The project is primarily funded through various grants.
