Although it is the end of the year and most families are trying not to think of the government and its overreaching powers, Representative Smith is trying to fight against the majority in Congress. Here is how he voted.

S5230

This bill requires the Attorney General to operate and maintain the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as the national resource center for missing and unidentified persons. Representative Smith voted Yes. Bill passed.

HR 1437

This extends government funding by an additional week as Democrats push towards a massive trillion-dollar spending bill on their way out the door. This is instead of putting all spending on hold until Republicans take control of the U.S. House in two weeks.  Representative Smith voted No. Bill passed.

HR 2617

This $2 trillion dollar deal provides a 9 percent funding increase on top of last year’s 7 percent funding increase, extending the spending spree that has led to the highest inflation in a generation. Representative Smith voted No. Bill passed.

HR 9640

Legislation Democrats used as their cover for making President Trump and his families’ personal tax information public, including addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers. Representative Smith voted No. Bill passed.

With that, Congress broke up and went home to celebrate Christmas. We will watch and see what the new Republican Congress will do. Will they dismantle the extra 87,000 IRS agents? Secure our borders? Ease the strain on the working ma? We will watch and see.
