What Was Happening?

The Byrd Freewill Baptist Church hosted an Easter egg hunt for children up through grade 6. Preceding the hunts, games were set up with prizes for everyone. Spring Dipper donated tubs of creamy ice cream- a definite favorite to all attendees. After playing at the games and on the playground, Pastor Todd gave a short devotional about an Easter egg. The children were then divided into four age groups to hunt down eggs. Before leaving, each participant was given a gift bag with snacks, a Bible tract, and a notice inviting them to the church services. The church had supplied 1,000 filled eggs- some even had money!

Past Hunts

In the past, the church has held Easter egg hunts. However, with the pandemic scare, many of their festivities and celebrations, including community egg hunts, were cancelled.  This was the first time for two years they could resume an Easter egg hunt. Past years have brought in 130-160 children participating in the fun. Whether it was the weather or continued fears, only about 23 children hunted down the eggs this year. Nonetheless, 23 children finding 1,000 eggs means a lot of eggs per child! As the younger toddlers tired of their seeking, older children stepped in to assist with the findings.

Finally, as each child left, they were given a Bible tract telling them about the love of God. They were also invited to attend the Byrd Freewill Baptist Church on Easter.
