Louisiana Now Requires 10 Commandments In Schools

Ten Commandments

Ten Commandments

Back in May, AltonMo.com posted an article about Louisiana considering mandating the posting of the Ten Commandments in every public school. While one cannot argue that the commandments themselves cause one to do evil, lawmakers still do not agree that this is best for the state or the youth. Time passes, and the Governor does sign this bill into law.

Recent Developments

The last two years have seen a direct shift towards a more Biblical outlook, coming directly from the ones making the laws. Last year, they directed schools to post our national motto, “In God We Trust.” After all, it is on our money.

In May, the legislatures debated posting the Ten Commandments. The Senate even added historical documents like our Constitution and Declaration of Independence to be displayed. Now comes this.

Law

Now, the Louisiana Senate and House passed a bill specifically about displaying these age-old commands. The bill went to the Governor, Jeff Landry, who signed it into law.

Controversy

Meanwhile, groups like the ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State oppose the measure. They say it is unconstitutional. Although the state is not forcing a certain religion, it is forcing good habits known by Christians.

Nonetheless, public schools are preparing for the display of the Ten Commandments when the next school season begins in the fall.
