We are now into the high school district playoffs. The Class 1 District 1 Quarterfinals will be held this Friday, November 3, 2023. Here’s a look into the Class 1 District 1 matchups for this Friday night.
Top 3
The top three teams in District 1 are the Marionville Comets (9-0), Portageville Bulldogs (8-1), and Thayer Bobcats (5-4). [1]
Marionville V. Miller
The number one seed in the district will be going up against the Miller Cardinals (3-7). The Comets have allowed an average of 4 points per game while scoring an average of 42. 2 points. On the other hand, the Cardinals have allowed 35 points per game while scoring 13.7 points. This should be an easy win for Marionville, especially considering in their last matchup, Marionville won 57-0.
Cabool V. Ash Grove
The Cabool Bulldogs are (4-5), and the Ash Grove Pirates are (6-3). The Bulldogs defense has allowed, on average, 18.1 points per game, while the Pirates have allowed 21.8 points. It will be an interesting game to watch, with both teams battling to move onto the semifinals.
Portageville V. Pierce City
The number two seed in the district will go up against the number seven seed, the Pierce City Eagles (2-6), in the quarterfinals. The only game Portageville has lost was in their season opener; they lost by one point. This should be another easy win in the quarterfinals.
Thayer V. Charleston
The final matchup for the quarterfinals is for our very own Bobcats. They will face the Charleston Blue Jays (2-7). Thayer has allowed about 24.2 points per game, while Charleston has allowed 34.3 points. Thayer’s offense has scored an average of 26.2 points per game. The Blue Jays offense has scored about 20.4 points in each game.
