Alton, Mo. –The Alton Lady Comets basketball team went up against the Norwood Pirates, while the varsity and junior varsity Comets went up against the Eminence Redwings, on November 30, 2023, at the Alton High School. Each Comets team won in their respective games.
Lady Comets
The Lady Comets led most of the game. At the half, the Comets were in the lead 30-13. They continued to score points and lengthen the lead in the second half. The score at the end of the game was 56-38, with the Comets winning.
JV Boys
After the Lady Comets game, the junior varsity boys basketball team took the court. At the end of the first quarter, the Comets were beating the Redwings 14-3. The boys followed the girls lead and also lengthened the score, although not as much as the girls. The JV Comets won 47-39.
Varsity Boys
Out of all the games, the varsity boys matchup between the Comets and Redwings was the closet. Throughout the entire game, neither team had a lead of ten points. One of the longest leads was only of 6 points. With around 15 seconds left in the game with the score being tied 50-50, Cole Trantham (#34 for Comets) made the game-winning three-pointer. The final score was 57-54.
