Alton, Mo. –On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the Alton Lady Comets went up against the Norwood Pirates and the junior varsity and varsity Comets went up against the Eminence Redwings. The Lady Comets won their game 56-38. The boys junior varsity won 47-39, while the varsity boys won 57-54.
The Girls
Throughout the entire game, the Lady Comets kept a comfortably lead over the Pirates. At the end of the third quarter, the Comets were leading 47-26. Multiple players for the Comets made several key points.
Boys
Both the junior varsity and varsity of the boys basketball team played against the Redwings. The varsity game was a nail-biter to the last second.
JV
Early on in the game, the Comets got an eleven point lead. Kade Clary (#11 for Comets) made several points throughout the entire game. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 39-21, with the Comets in the lead. The Redwings tried to come back and shortened the gap to just eight points. The score at the end of the game was 47-39, with the Comets winning.
Varsity
The varsity Comets had a slow time getting a rhythm against the Redwings, but they managed to keep the score within ten points. At halftime, the score was 31-29, with the Comets in the lead. The game heated up in the second half with multiple turnovers, fouls, and good rebounds. With 6:09 left in the game, the score was tied 50-50; it stayed that way for over two minutes. With about five seconds left, Cole Trantham (#35 for Comets) scored the game-winning three-pointer. The Redwings attempted to tie the game, but failed to do so. The final score was 57-54, with the Comets winning.
