Last night, Thursday, March 9, 2023, the 2023 seniors took on the faculty in a basketball game at the Alton, Missouri, high school gym. It was very competitive and tense throughout the entire game, but the faculty took the win 67-62.
Explanation
During the game, the seniors wore blue or black shirts and the faculty wore white or grey shirts. On the scoreboard, the faculty were the “Comets” and the seniors were the “guest.” The referees of the game were a junior boy and girl.
First Half
During the basketball game, there were two halves 20 minutes each; there were no quarters. For the first half the faculty kept the lead, and at halftime, they were still in the lead 35-31.
3-Point Contest
During halftime, the two teams battled in a 3-point contest. Each team player had sixty seconds to shoot as many 3-pointers as they could, going around the 3-pointer semi-circle. A senior and faculty player went at the same time. The top four shooters were faculty players Coach Honeycutt and Mrs. Holesapple and the seniors were Landon Huckabee and Jayden Mock. In the end, the top shooters for each team were Mrs. Holesapple and Jayden Mock.
Second Half
After the intermission of the 3-point contest, the battle continued. At 11:21, the game was all tied up 39-39. With 4:11 left in the game, the seniors took their first lead at 56-54. The faculty quickly took back the lead and kept it for the rest of the game. The faculty ended up winning 67-62.

After the game ended, the All-Star Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the night was senior Jayden Mock.
