Alton, Mo. – The Alton Lady Comets varsity basketball team went up against the Bunker Eagles in the first round of the Big Springs Conference (BSC) Tournament at the Alton High School on January 25, 2021. The Comets won 48-34.
Slow Start For Both Teams
Both teams had a slow start in the first quarter. McKenzie Smith (#20 for Comets), made multiple shots in the first quarter. The score at the end of the first quarter was 18-7.
Comets Lengthen Lead
Lexi Sanders (#11 for Eagles) made a three-pointer for the Bunker Eagles, making the score 18-12. Evin Montgomery (#34 for Comets) matched that later in the quarter with a three-pointer herself. The score at halftime was 33-19 with the Comets still in the lead.
Slow Points In Third Quarter
Neither the Comets nor Eagles made that many points in the third quarter. Jayden Mock (#23 for Comets) made 2 for 2 in her free-throw. The score at that time was 39-23. The score at the end of the third quarter was 41-27.
Eagles Try To Come Back
The Eagles tried to come back by starting off the quarter with a three-pointer from Lexi Sanders. The Comets got multiple free-throws in the fourth quarter. They made the majority of them. The final score was 48-34 with the Comets winning.
Next Game- Semifinals
On Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 4:00 pm, the Lady Alton Comets will go up against the Lady Ellington Whippets in the semifinals of the BSC Tournament.
