Alton, Mo. – The varsity boys Alton Comets basketball team went up against the Summersville Wildcats on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 7:00 pm at the Alton High School for the Big Springs Conference (BSC) Tournament. The Comets won over the Wildcats 68-42.
Good Start For Comets
On the jump-off, the Comets got the ball. The Wildcats quickly stole the ball. The first points of the game came from Cainan Heck (# 5 for Comets) when he got a two-pointer. Later in the quarter, both Brandon DeWolf (#2 for Comets) and Rylan Steele (#35 for Comets) made three-pointers for the team. The score at the end of the first quarter was 16-7 with the Comets in the lead.
16 Points Apart
In the second quarter, Cainan Heck saved the ball from going out of bounds but it was recovered by Andrew Buschmann (#00 for Wildcats).
Attempted Dunk
Near the middle of the second quarter, Chanler Sisco (#4 for Comets) attempted to dunk the ball but the ball did not go into the hoop.
More Points
Brandon DeWolf made another three-pointer that put his team to 27-15. Cason Kinder (#22 for Comets) also made a three-pointer. The score at halftime was 32-16 with the Comets having a sixteen point lead.
Longer Lead
Tristan Duncan (#11 for Wildcats) made a three-pointer for his team in the third quarter. The score at that time was 37-21. Cainan Heck and Jacob Smith (#25 for Comets) made their free-throw shots putting the score to 46-23. The score at the end of the third quarter was 46-27.
Comets Lengthen Lead
The Comets got multiple three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Garrin Greear (#12 for Wildcats) made a two-pointer that moved his team up to 48-31. The final score was 68-42 with the Comets winning.
Next Opponent
The Comets’ next opponent will be the winner of the Ellington versus Couch game. The game will take place on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 8:30 pm.
