On February 9, 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off in New Orleans, Louisiana, for Super Bowl XIL. Here’s some facts and trivia about the anticipated Super Bowl.
Announcers
Kevin Burkhardt will be announcing play-by-play and Tom Brady, seven-time Super Bowl winner, will do the color commentary for the game.
Stadium
The game will be held at Ceasars Superdome, home to the Saints, in New Orleans. This will be the eleventh year it will be held at Ceasars Superdome, tying Miami for the most Super Bowls held at the stadium. [1]
Three-Peat?
This year will mark the Chiefs fifth Super Bowl appearance in the last six years, with the Chiefs winning three of the four matchups (2020, 2023, 2024). [2] If the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX, they will be the first team in NFL history to have three back-to-back Super Bowl wins.
Last Meeting
It was not too long ago that the Chiefs and Eagles met up in the big game. In Super Bowl LVII (2023), the Eagles and Chiefs faced off. While it almost looked like the Eagles would take home the win, the Chiefs managed to score a field goal in the last minutes to secure the win 38-35. [3]
History
Both teams share a little bit of history with each other. Head Coach Andy Reid of the Chiefs used to be Philidelphia’s head coach from 1999-2012. Nick Sirianni, the current head coach of Philadelphia, began his career as an assistant coach with the Chiefs. [4]
Food Wagers
Two food wagers are related to Super Bowl XIL. If the Eagles win, Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que sends its classic barbecue to and feeds a fire department in Philadelphia. [5] If the Chiefs win, Pat’s King of Steaks (in Philadelphia) sends cheesesteaks to Joe’s and an area firehouse.
Chuck E. Cheese
Another food wager involves Chuck E. Cheese in Kansas City and Philadelphia. If Philadelphia wins, the Kansas City Chuck E. Cheese locations will become Chuck “Eagles” Cheese for a week. If Kansas City claims victory, the Chuck E. Cheese locations in Philadelphia will become Chuck E. “Chiefs” for a week. [6]
Pizza
The Super Bowl is one of the busiest times for pizza deliveries as it is a great food to have at the Super Bowl party. This year, though, the Super Bowl happens to fall on February 9th which is National Pizza Day. [7]
